Long time no post here
This is a low poly model i finished yesterday, two days of work. One day for the modelling, uvw mapping and rigging and the second day for texturing. I did this for breaking the monotony, i'm dedicated now with 2d only.
Traditional low poly model, 2250 tris and a 1024x1024 texture. The original texture is 2800x2800 and painted in painter
, not very usual for a texture haha. How many of you use painter for texturing?
Hope you like it, C&C are welcome as always.
Happy new year polycounters!

Painter can be cool for texturing, it gives a very distinct look, although I dig the tools in photoshop more.
looks fab though =]
I'm using painter everyday to texture at work and I think it's a really good program, it definally gives a different look to the texture. In my opinion it's better the photoshop for cartoon style texture.Anyway great model again
Looks just like one of hypers works, shares the same clay skin look as well as head design. If i were you id take a step back and think about the name you gave this guy. For a sea monster he looks very very dry don't you think?
nice work blaizer.
Love the jaw and teeth!
That critter kicks butt, it would be nice to see the same level of contrast on the face continued to the rest of the body in some way.
Possibility of wires and texture map. pleeeeese
My one suggestion would be to add a nipple, anywhere really. Just to pick it up a notch and make it PG.
Thanks a lot for your comments guys,
Weiser_Cain, i'm doing almost 2d because all the few works i get are for illustrations and some concepting only.
fiart, yes hehe, the face preserves some line designs of previous monsters i did. I did the model without concept, directly in Max so i didn't effort myself doing something different. The other days i was so bored, i needed to finish something in less than a week hehe .
Thegodzero, nop, i'm not Hyper. I know him from cgtalk, he posted some great works long time ago. You have reason, how could i name it? when i was modelling i was thinking in a sea iguana from galapagos, and i called it "Houler">>Howler hehehe, a weird name. I'm not very good with names .
oXYnary, in the stomach area i removed the contrast and a bit of definition due that the model looked worse, something wrong i did. It should have more poligons there too hehe . I will refine a bit more that area, thanks for the advice.
CheapAlert, a sea monster it is not the typical "hollywoodish sea monster", it can be a huge crab too hehe. Although i think you have reason, i should not called it "sea monster".
As too many requested here is more,
a wireframe
a fragment of the texture
And a big image for its face.
Great looking character, good use of polygons and a nice texture. He looks familiar. Probably more of a cuddler, Steakhouse.

Thats what i thought as well. After some heavy thinking i realized that it resembles the female monster from gears of war.
Still, very nice work. I'd hit it!
or at least if you insist on watermarking .. make it a little more subtle .. it's a little hard to see the whole texture ..
smashing work nevertheless
