Games industry virii

Is anyone else here getting many more virii from addresses in the games industry than usual? it seems like mobygames/gameasutra or something similar has had their data base raided. Now most of my virii come from addresses such as xxx@blizzard.com and [email="xxx@ea.com."]xxx@ea.com.[/email] Go on tell me its just me getting singled out?

Nope, I've been getting them, and my address has been spoofed and has been used to send them (not from my computer). I've had a lot and allegedly sent a lot to Digital Extremes and EA.

Like Rick, I've also received some emails like that, in my case from Mythic entertainment. I've never applied there, but I'm getting responses saying that I have, but were deleted because of infected atatchments.

Funnily enough I got one from you quite a while ago (2-3 months) but was pretty sure it was spoofed so didn't want to disturb you with a reply.

I am wondering though where they originated from, my suspision is moby as they couldnt spell my name the same way 3 time so i am under 3 different entries there which may help to explain why i usually multiple copies of each virus?

The emails you are getting and they are getting could have come from anywhere. A majority of email propagated virii just scan the address book of an infected machine, grab an @xxx.xxx domain and attach a legit (or sometimes not..) looking username to the front (ex. [email="admin@epic.com)."]admin@epic.com).[/email]

Not all the ones from my supposed account are rick@ - some are webmaster@, admin@ etc.
