Yep, it's that time of the dev cycle, when games like Vagrant Story come out for the mature systems, yet everyone's got eyes only for the new systems and abominations like... Evergrace.
Wow, very cool. That's the nice thing about a system's games at the end of it's lifespan, as dev teams squeeze the last drops of graphical goodness out of them.
Apropos of nothing, I have decided to buy a motorcycle.
Definately looking forward to that. It will be interesting to seehow the riding model plays out, although it does sound like you can't dynamicly shift your weight around like MotoGP (xbox) or Isle of Man TT
Rick - GP3 was actually handled by the Nottingham studio, not the Brighton team that did the first two. Given the fun we had producing assets for them , I'm surprised it made it out the door.
see that's the problem with many driving/bike simulator developers .. despite the loads of blurr/bloom and hdr and superhigh rez models it still doesnt have that feel of photorealism that polyphony accomplishes ..
i mean .. gran turismo 4 was absolutely gorgeous on it's own, and we are talking ps2 hardware here .. yet i dont think Project Gotham Racing achieves that level of photorealism .. despite the hardware advantage ..
that 360 version of motogp looks good .. but it doesnt look remotely decieving .. developers are really milking the hdr for all they can and it just looks off ..
I agree. If you squint your eyes and look at the TT shots, it actually looks real. You overlook the polygonal edges ( specially with your eyes half shut ;-) ). What makes it look 'real' is largely colour palette and tonal values. Polyphonal just seem to be masters of that stuff. A lot of other developers seem to have this 'checkbox' mentality of features they're meant to have, without actually stopping to look at the overall picture and see wether or not it adds anything.

Sigh...Isn't this true for so many games these days.

It does look uterly stunning, and it does look better than a lot of the Xbox 360 stuff.
*happily ploughing through Forza atm*

Climax, same as always.

That shot looks wierd... look at how dark the shadow being cast by the rider/bike is... yet the riders themselves are barely casting any shadows.

soul's right on the need for purple shadows
