this may sound dumb but, are thesse models on the site only available for certain games or can you download them for use of something other then quake or unreal, like a game your making yourself?
Player models made for Unreal do not work in Quake and vise versa. Though some models are ported to different games, they only work in the games they are released for. Some artists release the source files for the models (sometimes called SDK), and if you have the know-how, you can put these source models in just about any game.
Ask the people who made them - most of the pages for the download links on Polycount will have a link to the author's email address (usually in the top right), and if the model comes with a readme.txt, it's likely to have their email address in there.
It's common courtesy to ask if you want to use them for something other than their original intended use - and i'm sure 99.9% of the model authors around here will be happy to let you use their work, if you ask politely!
