Maybe they relized how dumb it is to think that an Advanced alien species would use still use Radio waves . I mean what ever intelligence designed this universe obviously intended intelligent life to evolve with curiosity I really doubt that intelligence would not allow some sort of communications between worlds in such massive distances but it's all speculation

It's just a first step I really don't think the science for FTL communications will evolve for a long long time . As advanced as Egytians probebly thought they were or Greeks or Romans none of them could have ever fathomed a messege could ever travel faster then horse back or bird ..imagine what they would think if they could have seen a telephone or the internet ! I till think there are still great technologies yet unfathomed ..guess we'll see
