Ack, I wish the person was using a newer version of Melody :P
The one from that tut is from July of last year..
Some pieces can still be used, though. Nice find.

That's right. Bad surprise for me - the tutorial is for an old version of MELODY. I have to say the truth - I'm a little bit lost with the new version of the MELODY.

I will search on the net for other tutoriel.

Is there any advantage in using Melody over Maya's internal Normal Mapping tools?

Well, I think Melody might have more options. I'm not a Maya user though, so I'm not entirely sure how it's toolset functions.
