Hi folks!
I am using max 7, and for some reason I am having problems being able to zoom right into my model! I am restricted to a certain point. This is really important because I need to zoom into my model to work on the finer detail. The strange thing is i was able to do this before, but now I am unable to. I have not changed anything...at least I think so. pleasde help me on this issue! if you can help thank you so much, and if not thank you so much for taking the time to read my post!

hmm i never had any problems with the zoom in max 7.. try mark the verts you want to work with and then press "Z" to zoom in on em

that is really strange, i did what you said, i marked a point and pressed z, and then after that i no longer have a problem zooming in. i can now zoom in with my mouse and am no longer restricted. max can be a funny old girl at times! strange! either way thanks guys for your fast responses!
is this ONLY in perspective view?

oh yeah, i forgot to point that out. my bad. Anyway, yes it is only in the perspective view!
Z is the trick to zoom in quickly.
If a Perspective view gets really whacked, reset the view to a Front or other orthographic view, hit zoom extents, then switch it back to a perpective view from this vantage point. You need to be in a 4 view layout when doing this. This will reset the perspective from a non-whacky zoom level. After this, avoid using FOV. Use zoom or Z to zoom in to things quickly.
User views won't have FOV issues, if you can stomache working in them.
you don't have a wonky perspective to work with when pokin' stuff around.
I likes to do teh pokin' ...
I mean, if you look at objects in real life with perspective, why shouldn't you look at digital objects in perspective? :P
The only possible advantage I can think of is that the User view doesn't have a clipping plane.
Each to their own, I guess. I just never heard a good argument for User view other than "I like it" or "I'm used to it"... and the latter is really not a good argument at all
but otherwise I'm with mop.. it doesn't give you a really good sense of volume or form, and is basically worthless.
