Max shortcut key??

I havent used Max in a while and I forgot the key that will allow me to make an object see through so that you can still edit it while seeing say a reference image behind it

Alt-X on my keyboard, but I'm not sure if that's default.

FWIW, it's named "Display as See-Through Toggle" in the keyboard list.
