Ooooooh, buying writable media from some random guy on the internet can mean there's data on the medium! Surprise! And that data can be porn or even worse! Noone could have thought of that even in their wildest dreams!
She's just upset that her husband was suddenly glued to the PSP. I didn't see the husband 'complaining'. Sounds like he was just making up a good story like Rick suggested.
What you guys won't understand about this is the news story is from Tulsa. I have lived in Oklahoma a total of nearly eight years, and I'm pretty sure I will never understand typical okies, unless half my brain is crushed or rotted by a disease.

WRONG!

In some way it is right. The PSP is a locked system, and in my sense of logic it make only sense to lock up systems for children, so that they can't break anything or do something wrong with it.
But adults don't need any locks on their own property (at least none that they don't have the key to) because... well they are adults
So stop beeing treated by companys like you are children, and get a handheld for real grownup MEN you sissies: http://www.gp2x.co.uk/
almost reminds me of that story of the kid and the second-hand Monsters Inc. pirated gba cart with the "fuck off and die" remark in it's hacked-in intro

Hey, I'm with you there, but I've lived here my whole life.

Inappropriate? It's my device; I'll be the judge of whether or not what I choose to do with it is "inappropriate," bitch.

Haven't gotten my unit yet (so many preorders that they had to elongate production time, or at least they say so), but it is getting close. I am expecting to get mine in 2-3 weeks.
But you guys are right, don't get it before some honest reviews are available, but I am pretty sure there will be nothing to be disappointed about
P.S.: Yes it is mostly a 2D device, but it has way enough power to do 3D too, just wait and see. It will be software rendered though, but advanced texture 'smoothing' effects etc are kind of useless on a small screen anyways
But if you only play advanced 3D games, you are probably better off with a PSP.
The GP2x looks great. Takes less batteries than my GameGear, and can play Xvid, and Ogg files. Nice. Good price. Wonder how many dead pixels it ships with? Can we say, what the PSP should have been if Sony made durable hardware?
It uses the same screen as the GP32, with is a high quantity&quantity qvga PDA screen and I can assure you that dead pixels are almost unheared of with that exact screen (on the GP32 which I already own).
I think the dead pixel thing was more of a media campaign agaist the PSP. Everyone I knew that bought one (5 people total) didn't have any dead pixels. Because of the dead pixel hype most of us who scratched our screens where able to trade them in, claiming dead pixels. Sony should get a fat slap across the face for making the PSP out of plastic that scratches like butter, and a double slap for making such a big screen, unprotected.
Personally I am mostly looking forward to NeoGeo emulation, which should be pretty much perfect on the GP2x (except for those roms above 64MB, but that might be possible to). SNES is also expected to run perfectly btw.
MAME is a difficult beast, but the port on the GP32 plays old games quite good, and some improvements are a sure bet with the GP2x.
Concerning Amiga emulation nothing can be said for sure, but there is a really talented guy working on it, and the Amiga emulator on the Dreamcast (which is slower than the GP2x concerning emulation) is already quite nice for Amiga500 games.
BUT you have to keep in mind that all these emulators will still need to time to be polished. So don't expect perfect emulation out of the box.
Concerning the PSP emulators: They will also become better, but overall the GP2x is technically better suited for emulation (for several reasons), and thus it will probably have better emulators (there is even the distant dream of a good running PS1 emulator, which MIGHT be possible).
I have some advice for those who buy something used/don't know where it's been and find something undesirable about it: CALL 911!!! CALL 9NEWSTEAMAT9! OMG THIS COULD HAVE SENTENCED ME TO AN ETERNITY WITH LOKI!
Go spend a buck and get new fresh blank media sheesh.
Still, as excuses go for downloading porn and getting caught by someone who does care (there might be more people like out there) it's worth bearing in mind.

I'm not putting cash down until I hear some reviews of the GP2x! Have you gotten yours yet?

Here is a preview of the GP2x on lik-sang (large HongKong internet shop):

I no longer regard you as an artist.
'software rendering has this nice retro-look, which give the games a special gritty look'
Is this more artist like?
I tried to run some SNES emulators on my PSP and they ran so poorly that I sold it in disgust!

I was interested in the Amiga and MAME emulation, has anyone tried.
