i dont think it looks very realistic at all.. i think it looks more like some forth graders got a hold of a fur plugin..

the similarities between antz and bugslife were that they both had ants in it.. now if antz took place on a farm and not NewYork and starred a ant that invented stuff and went off and found a bunch of other bugs to stop the grasshoppers,and the bugs he broght back just so happend to be a beetle, a spider, a stickbug, a praying mantis,a caterpiller and a ladybug then it would be more like what disney is doing here..

arsh, if you read the full article, those screengrabs were taken from incomplete, non-final shots of the movie... so it's essentially WIP... i wouldn't take any of those screens as finals ... still, it's pretty dumb to rip Madagascar!

oXYnary: At least Antz and A Bug's Life had fairly different characterisation! This one looks identical to Madagascar, they just changed the visual style... dumb!

Okay, from what I heard this movie got the green light first, and from other screens I've seen it looks god awful. Why would you release barely lit, shadowless images with billboard trees in the background unless you were retarded.

I don't think the general public will care which project was green lighted first. It comes down to who made it into the theaters first. Please Disney don't mess this one up and then sign a deal with pixar and ride them into pixel paste.

I loved madagascar. This may have gotten the green light first but you at least change the fucking placement of it. I mean NY Central Park.. they could have at least changed that, minimum.

It looks like utter turd. I can't believe they're released shots, but then I did some digging around.
A character TD friend at work interviewed for this gig ages ago and turned them down based on the amateurness of it all. This is being made by Core in Toronto, directed by Steve 'Spaz' Williams, who has on his resume 'visual effects supervisor for Spawn' Lol, go figure

Has Valiant come out in the US yet? It looked pretty decent from the preview and its usually pretty easy to tell if something if one of these animated films is going to be crap at that point, but the website seems to be suggesting its complete rubbish. Anyone seen it?

Jackablade: It was fairly heavily advertised over here in the UK this summer, but if it ever appeared in the cinema (and there's no evidence that it did), it sank without trace pretty rapidly.

The DVD looks like it'll be out in December.

Why are you guys ripping on Madagascar so much? that movie was great. Especially the Planet of the Apes reference......Pure genius (although i like the Planet of the Apes reference in Jay and Silent Bob allot more)

Valiant came out in the U.S. My Mother's Family Sued them to get a character name changed, and many of my friends who formerly worked in Television and feature animation, before moving into games, and real estate and stuff, saw it, and said it was pure crap, and made them all want to see Wallace & Grommit all the more.
