Forgive me if this has been posted before but damn I cant wait to play this game. One of the guys here at the office got the demo for it. The visuals are stunning plus beating a colossus is both rewarding and sad at the same time.
this one is pretty good too..
WARNING!! POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!
they dont disclose the end of the game but they do make it part of the review..and have some short clips.. so its like the say the ending is good or bad.. or okay.. but i am not telling what.. watch at your own risk.. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=8124&type=mov
You guys should have a Giant in your game bobo that would rock !
..man that review movie ..now that's the stuff that makes me wanna be a character artist . I think of all the game companies out there they do my favorite work graphicly speaking . Im gonna go pick this game up no doubt !
i've had a froth-on over this game since at least a couple of years back ... when in the name of happy christ are they going to stop teasing us and release the bloody thing to the baying public?
The demo was great. The feeling of bringing the colossus down after being at his feet is a great sense of accomplishment. They did a great job with that. Definately picking it up tomorrow. Plus it's only $40.
Man i've been preaching about this game at VOLITION forever! This is the type of game that inspired me to get a job in the industry. It's so creative and unique, I feel so proud for these guys to be getting great reviews and attention... maybe it'll stir up the industry a bit. Hopfully it'll show studios they don't have to follow market trends and churn out the same old thing over and over.
been waiting for this game for a long time. Ico is one of my favorite games. I never really figured out why forcably dragging along a helpless girl is fun, but it is.

I wish you were right but ICO actually did not do well sales wise despite how amazing it was and of course game companies are ran by bean counters so to them ICO was a flop
Oh I am not talking about sales, as Colossus has just been released so there's no way to tell yet how well it'll sell. I was talking about "attention and good reviews" and I think the right people in the industry will notice and slowly accept that everything doesn't have to follow the market trends.
For those people that care about "counting beans" as you put it, they'll never change anyway. Even if a company that's been following the market trends forever sees SotC as a success financially, I doubt they'll have the creativity in place high enough to pull something off that is equally grand.
What an incredible game. Just a few colossi into it, but it's clear this one is a winner. I didn't know just how much this one resided in the Ico universe, it's a welcome feature. It almost feels like I'm playing a game made by Miyazaki or something.
I'm usually very much against such a thing, but this is a very cinematic experience. My only gripe so far is the controls (especially on horseback), but considering the range of abilities the character has, I suppose it was somewhat unavoidable.
I'm three in. It'll be interesting to see how they change things up tactics-wise, if they do at all. Still very impressive, especially on the freaking PS2. The horse is amazing. Just standing next to it and watching it nuzzle you...it's those little things that make games like this special.
wow, what awesome animation it has. I'm totally enjoying this one. For issues with controling the horse I found It worked better if I just point him in the direction and let him do the running and steering. It's pretty good at navigating down winding paths by itself. So sit back grab a beer and hold x Still takes me like 5 tries to get on the horse though, haha. I just slayed a colossus, looked like a hero doing it, then I'm jumping around like a drunken Mario trying to get back on my horse.
There's lot's of other games you probably missed out on, then. Maybe there'll still be copies of the game floating about when the PS3 arrives so you can catch up with it then.
just when people have really figured out how to exploit and push the console to its limits the whole thing becomes outdated... theres alot of good games for the ps2... i got it awhile ago... i think for god of war... and u can watch dvds on it... and its tiny as HELL...
i suggest to close this thread and suppress any mention of this game on these boards - until sometime in 2006, when the pal version will be released, that is. i can't f**kin stand it at least someone please tell me that the game sucks and is butt-ugly.
also, hyped up like i am i went looking for ICO. man you wouldn't believe how much has to be paid for it these days. anyone willing to trade it for a copy of FFX-2?
yar, i need to put down SSX: On Tour and pick this up.
i tried to stay away from a lot of the hype around it (never played ico), but it is a very pretty game. I checked it out at e3, and i remember it was badass looking then.
watched a co worker play and beat the 3rd one at work today, while i thought it looked verry pretty, it also did not look much like a game i would enjoy playing, may borrow it sometime down the line and give it a try tho
it is lots of fun, but the grabbing mechanism/controls is a little shoddy. and it is too washed out, wished it was just a tad more vibrant, or really brought out the limited amount of colors they used.
damn, you people are plowing through this game! After playing Ico I was worried that SOTC would be the same (really short) and it looks like this is true
When I pick it up I'll have to limit it to one Colussus a day, I think.
Just finished it. This one just found a cozy spot in the ol' top five. The camera never quite stopped being nigh-crippling, but the ending completely made up for it all.
It's a reminder why I got into this business. A stellar experience all around.
Beat it also. Great game, whole time it really keep me going. I second what rockstar said, the last bits are just amazing. Definately anyone with a PS2 needs this.
well i borrowed it from a co worker, and got to number 8 last nite, and while i will say its beautifull and amazing, so far i'm only playing it to see what hapens next, so far the actual playing is more frustrating than fun, but i will probably beat it just to see it all, things that anoy me with the game
travel to the collosus, all this pretty terrain and nothing interesting to do, it seems like they make you run 10 minutes to each boss, just so they can claim theres more to the game than just 15 boss battles,
sometimes the trial and eror to beating a boss is soo drawn out, "hmm i'll swim around to these 15 pillars in the lake to see if i can do something from one of them!" not that bad except it takes almost 10 minutes to swim from one to theother.
I'm up to number 7 and loving it. I keep being amazed at the quality of their tech; the draw distance, seamless world, and all the little touches of the animation system, screen effects , and so on. I think I'll play it through again after I finish it. I wish I could make a character for this game.
Rhinokey - Gamefaqs. I had to get a couple 'ambiguous hints' once or twice.
I told myself i would only buy one game at a time, and since i just beat FEAR, i'm gonna go pick up this one up today....once i beat this one, I'm probably gonna get the new Fire Emblem game for Game Cube.

Four stars so far.
i just have to convince him to get this, and get his girlfriend to let him have friends over soon.

must do!
Ah well its not like I don't have enough other games to choose from coming out this week.
This game is incredible.
last few bosses are INCREADIBLY badass... and yeah the end battle is super hard, it was awesome... i think I'll be beating this over the second time.
When I pick it up I'll have to limit it to one Colussus a day, I think.
