pretty humorus little clip of the character animators in action on Kong.. i thought the one guy talking about using tigers for reference on the T-rex was cool.. might make it a little more fun to watch than just your run of the mill bird walking dinosaurs..

Seriously though, nice to see animators so 'animated'. They don't look like that from where I'm sat. And I dunno how much they paid that one animator there to say that mocap is great ;-p

You know what's interesting is having your company foot the bill for an Acting For Animators course. We did that a couple times at Mondo, can't recall the teacher's name right now, but it was great. Ed Hooks I think.

He got us to act out parts and to realize physically what our characters' motivations/etc. are all about. Doesn't matter if you look silly. Understanding how movement belies the inner state is really direct, and it's fun too.

I'm no AAA-quality animator, but the trick for me was to relax enough that I didn't care what others thought of me rolling around on the floor, so then I could analyze what's going on and break that down.

Cool clip. Lots of truisms in there. And Victor Huang on the guitar was hilarious!
