HELP!!!! WITH 3DS MAX 6!!!!!

Alright, this is probably something simple but i cant figure it out. whenever i insert an image in to a plane, the image only shows up in the perspective view point.
e.x. I Created a plane, in the front view, and inserted my bitmap image as the material. But the picture doesn't appear in the front view only perspective!
please help me. thanks in advance.

you probably have the wrong draawing mode on the viewport with no texture, hit f3 (i think) until you see something.

ill give it a try, firing up 3ds now...

Where it says perspective,left,right,top,ect right click and change it too smooth with highlights.

no good. all i did was go to create>standard primitves> plane. set it to 1 segment long and 1 segment wide,adjusted the size to the same size as the picture, but divided by ten to create a smaller window (a tutorial said to do this to avoid massive planes) and inserted my material, i also made sure to select "show map in viewport"

CMB your suggestion worked. thank you. now 1 more, if i need to take it off of smooth, will i lose the ability to work with my picture, say i wanted to use "facets+highlights" (which is what this tutorial said to use)

while working i noticed 1 other issue, probably something simple but im a newb,in when i rotate my picture in the front view (along X axis) the picture in the perspective view gets progressively darker, how should i fix this? at 90 degrees it is completly black

I can't stress how important it is too expieriment!
If you ever get stuck you would ask here...theres not realy a way you can screw up 3dsmax by expierimenting...everything is fixable.
But lock your UI's realy helps from losing your windows.
Oh and next time edit your posts :P

Yes Seyiji, I do. I'm not much of an internet person , so editing never crossed my mind. As far as the proper capitilization, would you believe I'm in an AP English class?
