Thought you guys might like to see these. I'm assuming these are recent photos showing the place is still a ghost town (not surprising). If anything, it may be good for some envirnmentals
Great pictures, reminds me of the bike trip of that girl from a few years ago.. I've been browsing across that forum a bit more, and stumbled on a thread with russion red barret photos. A particular photo caught my eye. A boxing match between soldiers. Check the background, what are those sunglasses wearning suited guys doing between all those militaries?
wow, amazing photography. Something I noticed it that on nearly all pictures the wallpapers on the wall are coming off. Is that hust a coincidence or...
Also I have to say, great environemnts and all. No wonder, GSC choose this theme for Stalker. You could make cool movies there too, if it would ne that contaminated.
We get parties of kids touring around here from the children's charity "Children of Chernobyl". It's a harrowing experience connecting those kids with those school images - even if it's their older siblings who would have filled those classrooms. On a lighter note - it kinda reminds me of the look Victor Antonov created for city 17. If Stalker can re-create that eerie desolation properly, it'll be 'an experience'.
hmm what Ive seen so far from stalker they caught the atmospehere pretty good. Hopefully this game wont turn into some dumbass mutant zombie killing in a nice environement.
I serously thinking about recreating some environemnts for my folio including their mood and lighting. Really inspririn stuff...
I've read that the Stalker game is based on the real-life Chernobyl landscape, combined with inspiration from the Tarkovsky film of the same name. I saw the film in college, and it's no big jump to say that the alien-created, human-abandoned 'Zone' in the film could very well be the same as the Chernobyl quarantine zone.
The movie is a real sloooooow experience, but it definitely features desolate, abandoned landscapes in long, contemplative stretches. The life-imitating-art aspects are striking.
haha, yeah, same here. I was curious exactly what it was. It looks like a caged dog, but it couldn't have survived this long in a cage. I was wondering if it was captured, or just behind a chicken wire gate that LOOKs like a cage. That one red eye is freaky though
There was another site linked from that forum thread, documenting motorcycle journeys through the zone. A great read and more good pics. http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chapter1.html
Which is amazing considering its a radioactive wasteland.
And when you say "nature" im assuming you mean plant life, because animal life gets cancer and dies there just like us.
I dont see a bunch of deer & whatnot prancing around, growing healthy & strong due to the absence of humans. Hehe.
Just once I want gamma rays to turn somebody into a muscle-bound superman, rather than bursting them into flames, or giving them cancer & tumors!

Well, I'm really talking in a more general way, regardless of where it is, it's still a picture of a plant life coming up through a room, and even a small tree growing in it.
Though just wait until plant life grows into a race of nuclear super plants, that flourish in highly toxic atmospheres, haha. Like Malcom said from Jurassic Park, 'life finds a way'.

I think it's because I like how brillant the green is compared to the rest, and how it sort of looks like nature is reclaiming the world.
