Summary:
A MMO project is looking for additional Modelers and Artists (unpaid) to help bring the world to life.

ScreenShot Link: http://67.175.124.158:8080/pdd/

Note: I posted two versions of each screenshot, a jpeg and bmp. Check out the ‘antechamber.jpg’ first, if you like what you see, check out the bmp versions of the pictures. We are aware the icons are ridiculous for the inventory; they are just place holders- as we only have one dedicated artist.

Why join this team?
Instead of trying to pitch some idea that someone scribbled on a notepad at Denny's and posting it- we are taking the planned approach. This is a project that has focus and a team that is dedicated towards its task. Our first goal is to make a Proof of Concept MMO. With a ton of discussion with our whole team, we plan on monthly milestones to give each person something meaningful to do that is important towards the development of the game.
As we have been drawing closer and closer towards this first major goal, we would like to add some people to help formulate a strong working art team. Although we'd all love to turn this into a profit one day and make this our careers, we realize that is a distant pipe dream. Currently everyone is participating to gain valuable work experience (or add to theirs) to put on their resumes, as a Degree isn't always enough these days.

Basic Info on PDD:
Dragon Dreams is a constantly evolving RPG. The characters and players that control them will actually have the ability to advance the available technology as time progresses. When a server starts "fresh" the available technology is similar to a typical fantasy / medieval era. The game is being planned to offer everyone something unique and challenging. Through different approaches, we hope to appease hardcore, casual and solo players to keep them entertained.

You keep mentioning what is planned, what is really in the game?
Custom Built 3d Engine with collision
Character Inventory
Complete GUI System
Network Chat System
Spell Cast System
Monster Spawning
Character Stat System
Group/Party System
Music and Sound System

Current Structure:
Steve T. Lead Programmer / Project Lead
Aaron S. Project Manager / Designer
Aaron N. Modeler / Texture Artist
Andy W. Concept Art
Jason Programmer
Jim B. Composer

Where are we taking the project in the next 3 months?

-Network Code (Display character movement and items across net)
-Animation System (Currently players hover around)
-Finishing the 'Hall of Knowledge' (Antechamber section of the Hall pictured above)
-Designing and building our first starting city

Who we are looking for:

Modeler: (Maya)
We are looking for a modeler that enjoys creating objects, worlds, and characters. Ideally each modeler would be able to create all three types of models and texture them, but we will give those who can't texture a fair shot at joining the team. Modelers should also be capable of creating concept sketches of their proposed meshes from every angel requested (top, front, isometric in appearance, etc.).

Texture Artist: Texture artist should be capable of producing realistic repeatable textures for any description given to them, and be able to adhere to the limitations on texture size and quality set by the programmers. Texture artists should also be capable of quickly producing quality concept art sketches which they can scan and supply when required.

Application:
-Send an email to me at moose@geekaysoft.com with the subject 'PDD Application' with a little information about your past work and how much time per week you are likely to have to work on our project.

Trial Period:
We cannot accept all help we are offered, as too many chefs spoil the pot. A trial period of predetermined length will be given to those whom we select to potentially join our team. This will consist of creating concept sketches for areas, monsters, and characters based solely on written description, creating model files to as accurately depict these concept sketches as possible, and modifying these same meshes to work within the constraints of standards and limitations set after its initial creation. Texture artist applicants will have a very similar trial; however, it will consist of texturing completed models in the same fashion.

Everyone who enters the trial will be working off of the same design information. We have no intention of having an artist generate a model, not accept them, and still use the mesh they have created. We will be judging the creations based on existing artwork and comparison of ability to stay within style, inherent creativity, and staying within the limitations set to it.

After being accepted:
We will require our NDA and TRIPs agreements to be signed and faxed/scanned&emailed to us initially, but we will require a hardcopy within 30 days of acceptance.

Thank you for your time,
Aaron Souza

Thought I'd add a quick update. Max Modelers welcome!

We now have character movement and item display (putting a hat on and taking it off) working across the internet. You can now log in, level up and save your XP for later.

The game is progressing, and we're really looking for another artist or two because we have a world to build. If you are interested in low poly character modeling, creating armor and items or making a world / room geometry- this is the team to join. If you are a 2-D Artist who really likes concept art or would like to help making textures to apply to the model- you are also in need.

We will have grouping in within two weeks and will be heading towards A.I. and questing, but the biggest way to help the project move is to create content.

If you are interested in the project and would like to hear or see more, shoot me an email. Our website is currently down because of a hardware failure, so screenshots will be sent via email upon request.
