Job interview tomorrow! and my dilemma

I'm psyched! Tomorrow I'm meeting up with the folks at Flipside Games (company founded by ex-Blizzard North guys here in the Philippines) for a position as concept artist (lead?) After 1.5 years working in mobile games, I finally get a chance to get in the REAL games industry. In my country, this kind of opportunity is really rare.

But here's my dilemma. I applied at a bunch of companies a while back, and somehow I ended up signing for a fulltime position as a UI designer at a instant messaging software company. They're paying HUUGE amounts of cash (1/3 of it non-taxable) and I already have a good working relation with them 2 months old, since they hired me as part-time consultant before my official start date.

Now I'm due to start there in October, but the PC games job is pretty much what I've been working towards since high school, and my GF tells me I'm selling out choosing a job that pays ridiculously well over what could very well be my dream job. I still have a chance to reconsider... what would you guys do?

decide after the job interview, and if your still stumped, work on the most prestigous project. Working with good people on good projects are sure to get you future work.

woah, i'm always getting the exact opposite advice all the time. would you mind sharing that girlfriend? j/k wink.gif

personally if i had to make such a decision i'd try to get information about what amount of pay relates to which kind of working conditions. a dream job is only cool as long as it doesn't destroy your life. startup game companies are known to require a lot of man-hours and sometimes are really dis-organized. be careful, maybe ask some employees and take your time to consider both opportunities.

but true, if you work with good people, chances are that you will be successful overall.

yea, revisit this question after you've been offered the other job. If you do get offered the job, and you've had a chance to see what it might be like working there, then decide which one you'd be happier doing.

From recent expierence: worrying about choosing between jobs should only happen when there are 'accually' two offers on teh table.

Otherwise yer just stressing things that may not come to pass...and aditionally; assuming both offers to materialize, you still don't have all the details to compair the two until both final offer come.

Hey, if nothing else, you could make them battle each other over you with offers... Well ok maybe not. But it the thought that counts.

    Good luck.
