I had this GBA laying around for years and decided to get a few new games since my main PC is currently being hogged by my Fiance for The Sims 2. Decided to go retro, so...

Final Fight Zero... Oh my god, just like the old arcade machine... very impressed, (though some of the weapons are missing).

Street Fighter Turbo Revival... suprisingly good also... though waaay too easy. Thought it would be slow, but no... actually a pleasure to play.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Third suprise... a deep gameplay and rather addictive.

Ok, so any more good games out there? The shelves seem to be full of kiddy games and license games (rarely good).

Any of the Castlevania games are a safe bet. Circle of the Moon is a little dark, though, if you have one of the non-backlit GBA's.

Castlevania Aria of Sorrow was addictive and has a nice style. I still can't believe I finished 100% of the game.

[plug]Drome Racers is a damned good little 3D racing game, especially multiplayer[/plug]

do not buy Serious Sam Advance.

Kirby's Nightmare isn't too bad, if you don't mind the retarded writing.

Ninja Five-O: Damn rare but if you find it don't pass it up.
Astro Boy: The Omega Factor: Looks like a stupid licensed game but unlike he PS2 version it's actually a good game.
Metroid: Zero Mission: While it's not the greatest Metroid title it's a very good game in its own right. When you're finished with the game you can start with the sequence breaking which turns the game into a completely different experience.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga: Might look like a game for kids but it's one of the best RPGs out there. The combat is a nice mixture of turn based and action based.
Zelda: Minish Cap: Stupid plot, feels like bad fan fiction but the gameplay is really good.

Avoid Golden Sun, that game is as incomplete as Halo 2. It's nice for an RPG but since it's story driven (not that good a story, either, damn clicheed), ending the game half way through with the words "now our adventure really begins" REALLY hurts the game.

Kuru kuru Kuririn: One of the first games out for the GBA, so you probably won't find it in any stores. Nagivage through levels in the form of a spinning cylinder while avoding walls and enemies. Addictive and refreshingly simple gameplay. You may have to import this one.

Advance Wars 1 and 2: Good, turnbased strategy games.

Wario Ware Mega Microgames: The first one, not Twisted. 200 insane little minigames.

Ah yes, Kururin! I completely forgot about that one! Some stores still have it but that's probably because they're still selling it for 40 Euros. I was lucky enough to pick it up when a store had a huge surplus of it and flogged the copies for a tenner a piece. Unfortunately it sold so badly no other Kururin games have been brought to the west ever since (there were two sequels, I think)

[mobius plug no.2]max payne is quite a fun game- it's essentially the pc version but with isometric graphics, plus I worked on it :P[\mobius plug no.2]

Mario Kart is awesome on the GBA- it's proper old school handling rather than the bastardised setup that the N64 and GC versions had
