The Sword of Derek.
The legendary Sword of Derek was used to slay the mighty Night elf Druid GrislyDin. As it struck her arousing body the Sword of Derek shattered and was infected by the critter killing whore's cold black heart.
Since that day the sword of Derek has been used to crush the alliance scum and endless amounts of bloody furblogs.

The sword will be shattered and have a juicy black center that will spawn particles which will form a fist or something not so cheesy.

Started a little early. So will submit early as well.
The blade joints/edges are fairly rough but it should be enough detail for the normal map.

Well I did what I hate about normal maps, modelled small details that don't get enough detail on the texture. The grip will take up 256 of the 512. Did a test and it shows more detail than I was expecting.
Looks like I'll have to either lessen the weight in the blade ridges or spend 5 mins making a cleaner blade.
And the pommel will change.
And Lightwave cures cancer!

The blob needs more work and I'll probably mirror it so It'll fit into the blade better.
Will be modelling some 'volcanoes' where the blob has pushed out of the blade next.
The curve on the thin part of the blade should be concave but the spike would be too long.
I should curve the grip a bit as it looks rather boring straight.

Might add some veins, not sure. The particles will obscure quite a bit of Das Blob.
Need to angle the sides of the crossguard.

Base model final - 172KB.
Going to leave it a few days till I do the diffuse and particles. Might come back to add a few small things to the model

Good start on the weapon though, can't wait to see it done.
I'm still a bit confused on what it is exactly, but it seems to work. The sword looks like a sword and the blobby thing looks neat with the normal and all. I like the high detail chainmail handle, though being a bit dense with detail it loses some effect as a normal map.
How about some big cracks in the sword, even floating shards of metal, and some carved in details to the sword itself?
All the killing, painful pain and mega will be happening up the other half/two thirds of the model(depending how stupid I want to be).
I'm going the Disney mega weapon tale route, ordinary/boring turned into mega rather that designed to be mega being mega.

I would do carved in detail but I'm a lazy sod.
Additionally, I've started on a second one but it won't be finishing it. I planned it for a ut2k4 model that I never bothered with. Will be sticking the char in q4.
