do Rice Krispies rip apart the roof of anyone else's mouth? I hope it's not just me, and it's not syptomatic of some serious medical condition that's everso slowly destroying me.
Or are you supposed to slop so much milk over them they just become pointless? "Rice floppies"
Alpen all the way. Best Muesli evAr. Man, I would love to know where I could get some over here. I used to love that stuff as a kid.
PaK, I'm sure I've seen shreddies in that British food store on El Camino in Redwood city. Probably absurdly expensive though as everything in there is. No Alpen though
I've heard of this british store in Redwood City, i bet i could find some decent tea there too. Our lead programmer got me some curry paste from there one time.
Most of my faves are extinct now, like a Kellogg's one called Kenmei Rice Bran, big fat flakes of exactly that, and supremely milk-spongey. Then there was Quaker Corn Bran, which also soaked up the milk like nobody's biz. But both of those are gone now, so I have to be happy with corn flakes or raisin bran.
Now-forgotten sugared cereals of my childhood:
Baron Von Redberry / Sir Grapefellow
(Chocula-Frankenberry precursors featuring 'Stop the Pigeon'-era WWI aero rival mascots)
Pink Panther Flakes
(turned the milk pink, yes sir, and nigh inedible as well)
Grins, Smiles, Giggles and Laughs
(Yes, that was one cereal. A big bowl of smiley-faces. Don't remember what the hell it tasted like.)
I tell my kids now that the next sugar cereal will be Birthday Cakes, with little multicolored wedge-shaped sugary nuggets. Mmmmm, high blood sugar, let's go!
If I have it in the house, I could eat an entire box of Kashi Go Lean Crunch in a single day. Then spend all night doubled up from the MASSIVE fiber ripping through me.
Honey Nut Cheerios is the BOMB! Raisin Bran Rules! My all time 'classic' go-to cereal is actually All Bran. Loved it since I was a kid and we HAD sugar cereal! Lucky Charms are awesome as well when I want sugar cereal.
ETA - Pak, you can find Shreddies online at britishdelights.com to order. I love them, ukgoods.com and goodwoods.com and of COURSE britishbacon.com
Count Chocula sounds like my idea of the perfect cereal, but it's impossible to get in the UK, I think manufacturers regard it as too massively sweet-overkill to sell well here. Anyone know where I might get some?
Aesir, I'm pretty sure they have that here! I've never had it though. Is it seriously that good? I could give it a whirl.
Personally, I go through cycles with my cereal buying. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is always a great favourite, but at the moment I'm with the All Bran Strawberry Bites. They're even sorta healthy! I also really like Special K Vanilla Almond, but only dry.
Anyone else notice when a year or two ago a lot of companies switched their recipes for more healthy ones they killed the taste? Seems like now I can actually taste the corn-starch or whatever the hell they're really made of. And thats no fun.
Ruz: Golden Syrup is VERY different to Treacle! Treacle is much darker, thicker, and with a nastier taste. It's almost like halfway between Golden Syrup and Liquorice... but Golden Syrup on porridge is where it's at!

*=That's what LEO returns for "Müsli".
Not much of a milk and cereal kind of guy. "Life" isn't bad though.

But for sugar cereals its Golden Gram's all the way.

sugar puffs are gorgeous too.
I read somewhere that these sugary cereals are not the greatest things ina diet. I try not to buy things that will make me fatter.
