Just started listing to this guy:

He worked on the Magnolia, I Heart Huckabees, Eternal Sunshine soundtracks, Aimmie Mann's last 2, Fiona Apple, Macy Gray, Kanye West and a few others. He also preforms here in LA every Friday. Just wondering if people have heard of him or seen him live. I was thinking about going.

I've been listening to him since I saw Huckabees. That soundtrack is brilliant as is Sunshine. Haven't bought "Meaningless" yet. Do you know if it's any a good?

Meaningless is an excellent pop album that if you like his soundtrack work, you'll definitely enjoy it.

Jon Brion is as brilliant live as he is in the studio, which is great because he performs every friday night in a bar in LA. So if you're in LA, you can get tickets or try and show up to get a seat at the bar (show up 30 minutes early if you're going the second route). I've seen some great live shows and his ranks up there--intimate, relaxed setting, but he rocks out (and takes requests!). When I saw him he played a couple of the great tracks from Eternal Sunshine and the (then upcoming) I Heart Huckabees, as well as a wonderful and varied selection of covers. Anything goes with him live, he's got all the instruments he could want to play (and he can play them all) and a coffee and a Guinness on the piano. Awesome. smile.gif

So in conclusion, go see him live if you're in/near LA, and Meaningless is also a good album.
