It's fairly nice actually. quite simplified. no ads, no limit to the amount of text you can type, so you can paste an article or go on and on about how so and so is ruining your life again.
Rick: Eh? Skype is free.
Anyway, MSN Messenger's free, and it has a voice chat feature too, although it breaks now and then.
Google Talk is good if it has no ads, also they say that although it's currently limited to its own network, it'll be able to work like Trillian or Jabber, and you should be able to add contacts from any IM program.
I can't login to my my gmail, because I forgot the login. There seems to be no option to email you login details to the other email address you used when you registered.
oh yay, ANOTHER one.. skype works fine, as does trillian (or gaim or whatever).. do we really need *another* damn chat program? i mean, seriously, i can understand some people not wanting to use one or another IM / VOIP app, but does that area of communication really need to be flooded any moreso?
I like it and some of the functions it has, but I've already disabled it. Unless someone comes up with a hack to allow it to work with my other IM services, I'll keep using Trillian. I like GTalks interface much more than Trillians, but everyone I know that isn't computer literate, isn't going to jump into learning a new IM service. And I won't run 2 IM services just because friends won't switch to Gtalk (and I wouldn't push them to either).
Notman, you should be able to set it up in Trillian (sans voice chat.) It uses the Jabber protocol. Set the connect server to talk.google.com, turn on TLS, port to 5222 and server to Gmail.com.
There are better instructions on the Google Talk site on setting up the various programs to work with it.

I've had to download it for my latest contract work, and no charges for it yet.
