I have a unique problem:
I need to test character normal maps heavily modified in photoshop in a viewer that is not Max, Maya or any game engine.
The ATI normal mapper only allows you to view normal maps cooked by the tool itself. the same is true with Melody.
Does anyone know of an app that can load a custom normal map and a custom model. I only need to see normal maps applied to a model, I don't need a generator.

EDIT: Oh wait,I think the same problem you mention applied to Orb too.
From the "previewhead.cfg" file:
#
# This example shows using ORB as a previewer,
# i.e. to view an existing model with existing
# normal map(s) and/or decal map(s)
#
# import model for viewing
ViewModel imports/dericks_head_low.obj
# Specify which normal map to use on material 0
SetViewNormalmap 0 textures/derhead_local.tga
# Specify which diffuse map to use on material 0
SetViewDiffusemap 0 textures/derhead_d.tga
Not sure about specular maps, though.
EDIT: acc beat me.

Does Orb support normal maps with some mirrored UV coordinates or does it have to be 100% unique coords?
I am, of course, downloading it anyway...
I was using Crytek´s Polybump Previewer. It looks good to show some Normal Maps created in ZBrush.
I think this is a Evaluation version, but I didn´t found what´s the limitation. Check it out!

Polybump certainly looks great. It looks as though it even supports mirrored UV's. Unfortuneatly, it'sa rip-off at $1000 U.S, and the 'demo' plugin for 3dsmax is for version FOUR. FOUR? What's with these people....
