Its been a few months since i seriously sat down and logged some hours into a project. So today i got started again and worked on some unfinished projects. I remembered when i posted a crit shot people commented on the texture so thats obviously working on. Essentially im working from scratch, but when i load my texture onto my character it looks blurry and low definition. Its at 1024 so theres no reason the image size is a factor i suppose.

What id like to know is and efficient technique to perceive your texture progress. Its looking good and detailed in photoshop, but blurry and ugly on my character. Do i need more sharp-defining lines? or did i just do a horrible job UV mapping?

nope not using max. I should though, but im still on Maya.

Still working at it, but it seems like im realling getting the detail in on the texture map itself, im looking at it in 2d and im really satisfied, but in 3d its mediocre at best.

maya likes to filter and sample down your textures by default, too. can't really tell you right now where that feature is hidden though. maybe in "hardware texturing", but that would probably too easy and intuitive. wink.gif

yea i remember that being an issue for people, but im pretty sure mine have been set at 1024 for while, regardless though, it still appears drab even when rendered, unless this setting affects it there too.

damn itd be great if it were just some setting in maya and not just my underdeveloped skills smile.gif *dream on*

well holy crap, i did find the setting set to 256 *gasp*.
Im gonna rebuild my lights and see what im really lookin at.

    thanks for the insight!
