VOIP problems on BF2 .. anyone know the fix ??

As the subject states I am having some problems with my headset, VOIP and BF2.. Whats odd is I had it working well a few weeks ago, however after a SATA HD failure I had to get a new HD and reinstall everything, now my headset / mic doesnt seem to work.. I know its a matter of finding the right "settings", as of now nothing is "muted" or set on "digital only" (these are some reasons peoples headsets may not work.. Heres my setup..
Windows XP Professional
SB Audigy 2ZS sound card
Creative Inspire 7700 Speakers
Altec Lansing headset w/ mic
Ok.. I have these plugged into the speakers' volume control wire which sits on myd esktop(it has ports for headphones and a microphone) (this was my earlier setup)
Ive tried different speaker setups in the windows menus, from the 7.1 speakers, to stereo headphones.. the mic and speaker / recording (input and output) source is set on the soundcard (there is no other choices so far)
I know that after I tinkered with these setting last time I got everything to work perfectly, but I somehow cant for the life of me figure this out now..
I guess the answer is right in front of me and i am missing it..
Oh yeah.. i have all the updated drivers for my Audigy card, thought I am tempted to remove all software and reinstall everything (thought thats what I did with the new HD anyway)
Any help is (as always) HIGHLY appreciated.. I know many of the Polycounters hereare geniuses when it comes to computer tech problems..

For the record, I still am having problems getting the VOIP to work.. Oh well.. I guess Ill try the BF 2 forums again..
I have to fiddle with my settings all the time. Also rememeber with VOIP you can only talk to your squad members with the "B" key and the Commander with the "V" key. If it is malfunctioning in the game you'll see a red cracked image of a little speaker on the right of your screen. If it is working, it's green for your squad and yellow for the commander. I'm not a real tech head so that's about all I got. Good luck, dood.
