buying xsi in the uk?

whats the deal here. None of the listed resellers seem to sell the bugger, apart from ERA who seem to be charging 420 pounds as opposed to 299.
If you try to buy it on line, there is this bollox about tax expemtion and i may be charged additonal costs.
Anyone from the UK bought it recently?

I know Kau bought it (briggscow), but he hasn't been on #md or polycount for a while. He paid £299 online I think with his sisters credit card.

Iknow a couple of people that bought it online. they didn't get hammered with any silly import/customs tax but, they could be the exception to the rule.

found out that you get charged VAT on it, about 40 quid in
the uk.
So if you order it on line , just ignore that bit about tax reguistration. it actually refers to VAT registered companies. you basically have to pay the VAT on the product.

ztill fairly cheap though considering what a cool package it is

I bought my copy from Softimage.com with my Credit Card.
($495 translated to somewhere around £260), they dispatch it too you for $10 anywhere in the world.

Not sure if they charged me VAT mind you, not that it matters. Buy it using the company or education institute your in and you can claim back any Tax taken by computer-related goods.

Save so damn much money that way.

Its good that you get the free upgrade to version five if you buy it now.
