> It's nice to know that there are other Polycounters besides me who still play Quake2. Unfortunately, I haven't played in months, being sidetracked by other things, but I hope to back into it soon. The QuakeCon is going on right now, but if the Q2 tourney is held again next year, I'll hopefully be prepared enough for it to at least get a few frags in before I get taken down.
> BTW, I always thought that Quake2 is faster paced than Quake3. The rockets seem to travel faster in Q2, and the players can run faster. Everyone else seems to think the opposite for some reason. Maybe it's just that my obsolete system can't handle the Q3 requirements as well or something.

I jumped on for a bit on the Vanilla server.
They don't have my Fwwolf PPM as a selectible. :-( (or my WW2 Soldier
Also I had forgotten how FAST Q2 was. My skills have atrophied. I was bottom of the barrel.

LOL Scott, don't worry about it. Most of those FFA hotshots tanked extremely early in the 1V1 competition. Play a little bit a couple times a week and it will come back to you Also I'm assuming your two above mentioned models are here at polycount, I can get them uploaded for you
Also Paolo, Scott or any of you guys who were doing Q2 ppm's Soul indicated he might be in need of assistance on Q2 animations. Of course that was at like, 2 am, so take it with a grain of salt! Although I would like to see a Soul Q2 model myself
Oh. I'll be back, but man it was sobering geting spanked like that. Yes the models are on Polycount.
As to animation, sure, let him ask, as I think I still have my "Q2 Dev Environment" somewhere or on a CD. It's actually pretty easy, but the book keeping can get a bit odd if you forget that the first frame is frame 0.
> Wait, that was you who got 30 frags in 2 minutes? I'd really like to play against you, just to see how far my game has come in the past 7 years. In fact, since I see that there are at least a handful of Q2 players left around here, could we all arrange to meet on TastySpleen in the near future for a few rounds?
i dug out my Q2 disc and the extremities disc and installled Q2 and eraser bot. man, i forgot how much i hate some of those maps and it took me 5 minutes to work out why the hell i couldn't look up and down and why i couldn't turn properly... or strafe!
> Hey Soul, thanks for the demo, I'll check it out when I get a chance. Speaking of demos, I also have a few hundred I've been accumilating over the years, including one with some guy using an auto-aim bot. I like to record games when a lot of people are using custom models and skins, and then watch them whenever I want. If you're interested in seeing them, I can put together a zip of some of my better games for you to download.

No, you are just inflating.

It's been so long since I've played, but nothing since has been quite the same. The CD is just an arm's reach away, too.
*Eyes Q2 CD*
