Hey --> my daughter came home from the hospital this weekend. Nice.
Here's the start of the storyHere's the middle
And here's the end. Jessica spent the last two weeks doing mainly physical therapy, to make sure she got back on her feet before school starts. There's nothing illness-related going on now, she's just getting over the muscle atrophy from being on the ventilator. She can't stand without assistance yet, and usually gets around in a wheelchair, but this is temporary. She's made incredibly fast progress, they even released her ahead of schedule.
Oh, you need pictures?
Working the standing thing in Physical Therapy:
Lounging in the chair at home:
You don't see many wheelchair-bound people with their feet up like that, that should give you an idea of how she is.
I just want to thank everyone for the psychic support. We made it through on sheer toughness and good intentions. Well, and medical benefits, too.
Excelsior!

Its all coming out for the best in the end, isnt it.
btw, is that your mrs? cos, she's HOT!!
You and your family must be ecstatic.
I hope she won't have to spend any more serious time in the hospital because she's had more in her short life than most of us will have in our whole life.
Agree with Sundance there
All the best to you and your family, bud!
Superpowers?

Even before this, I told both my kids that the stuff they take for granted (medi-port implants, monthly infusion treatments) would make the other kids in their classes run screaming. That makes Jessica laugh even more, now. She's planning a full-on hospital horror tale entitled, "What I Did on My Summer Vacation!"
Honestly, you don't get to go on the oscillating ventilator unless you're approaching Death's Door. Five years ago, my son actually opened Death's Screen Door and knocked a couple times, but didn't get to go in, thankyoujesus. Jessica kind of hung out on Death's Front Porch like a sullen little juvenile delinquent with her bad lungs. For too damn long.
The one thing going for them is, despite the bad genes my kids got from my wife and me, they also got my dad's family's Unstoppable genes, passed down from my 105-year-old grandmother. Superpowers? Part tragically weak, and part unkillably strong. Now I have TWO "Kids Who Lived". Up yours, Voldemort!
And, no, the woman in the top pic is the Physical Therapist, not my Mrs. But I think she's available, guys!

My wife is happy to know she is doing better!
Best of luck to you and your family.
It sounds like little Jessica has an awesome attitude about it all
