I've put up with this for a while, but its really starting to annoy me now. About half the time when I open up a maya file and go to the UV editor window, the panel will open up without the actual uv editing area - it'll just be a blank panel with the drop down menus at the top. An error message is displayed at the bottom in red "Unable to find UVWLayout.mel" or something to that effect. The problem can be resolved by saving the file, closing Maya and the reopening the file, which is bloody annoying when I'm having to go through and make minor tweaks to the uvs of lots of characters and objects.
Can anyone suggest whats going on here?

Often bugs of this nature are because of low-disk space.
I'd never use Maya without atleast 10GB free.
