Found this based on an offhand remark in some completely unrelated thread. http://www.moviecentre.net/upcomingmovies/trailer/409.php
Looks absolutely amazing - very reminiscent of Gaiman's artwork. Story looks rather akin to Alice in Wonderland.
gaiman is not an artist but an amzing writer. i think you meant dave mckean's work. they did this movie for 4 million dollars or so (maybe 3 i'm not entirely sure). they wanted to create the next labyrinth and dark crystal (and sequels to both are now in production by the way).
but ya, the trailer is amazing, the budget is even more amazing. dave pretty much did all the special effects and compositing himself with a little help from the henson group. they have worked together on multiple projects, for example sandman from vertigo comics. i am definately there on opening night.
yeah i have been looking at this for awhile.. i have been a big fan of Dave Mckean ever since arkham asylum.. he also did some childrens books with gaiman that are really entertaining .. the one i read was "i traded my dad for 2 gold fish". looks like it could be really good or really bad... lets hope good..
Their work on Sandman got me into comics, and I remember long, hot summer holidays reading the series from start to finish - borrowing each trade paberback from the library. The Sandman stuff is still one of my favourite stories ever - I keep trying to convert Harry Potter fans over to The Sandman as Im sure they'd love it- but I haven't got one to even try it yet... thats the trouble with comics I guess.
Looks like a cult classic to be. I love Gaiman and McKean's work. McKean's 'Violent cases' was fantastic, as was his 'Black Orchid' sheesh he's done so much extraordinary work. He's always had a film-makers eye, so I have high hopes for this.
