Microphone to speaker

Does anyone know if it's possible to talk into a microphone and hear yourself though a speaker as you're talking? Basically you have something coming to Line In (microphone) and have it go straight to line out (speakers)?

If it's possible, is it possible without using a program to do it, or do you need some program to take the input and send it to the output?

Volume control (in the systray or control panel->audio settings): Options->Settings, check "output", go through the list and check "Microphone". That'll add the microphone volume control to the window, set as desired.
