Nifty lil app that allows you to chat with friends playing games on servers, and more importantly directly connect to the server they're on.
Does the program use the game resolution when running, or the desktop resolution? because in all games I use a different res... Will it mess anything up?
Ive used X-fire for a while.. to answer a few questions, NO, it doesn't screw with your resolutions.. Whats also nice about it is you can receive messages from your friends when they are not playing a game. X-fire gives you a little notation in the corner that you have a message and gives you the key sequence to answer them back. (I usually wait til I find a nice quiet corner to hide in to do hide, hehe)Also the "Join server" option (which now works with BF2 and some of the newest games too) is darn good for jumping in with your friends, especially since BF2 doesn't have the "favorites" option in the menus. You can even use it as a regular chat client, although it doesnt have some of the features many chat programs do..
Then what in the bloody love am I doing wrong with my xFire-to-BF2 ? It goes to open BF2, but when it connects to the Account Server (or tries to) it times out. Do I need to setup xFire with my BF2 account info?
Almost forgot. Mine is 'elysiumgx' of course. Add me!!!
I've avoided this program til now, didn't want another messenger...but, dude this rocks! I want to play games more just because of it. And I can keep track of my favorite servers.
AdamBrome: BF2 Stat servers have been locked to anything other then the in-game browser until they can beef them up for sig banners. Maybe that's why? Although they did announce a few days ago that they were back up.
Funny but when I mentioned Xfire a while back, either people flamed it, or didn't give it a second thought. Its actually a neat program, it just needs a few tweaks with BF2.. I have to say though, they upgrade it as new games are released and it supports a load of games..
