This was my art test for Neversoft. I had to make the character under 1200 and the accessories in another 400. I used three 1024 maps, color, normal, spec. I ended up getting the job, and I'll be moving August 3rd to most likely work on GUN.
Figured I'd post it and do a little pimpage. I'm open to critique and criticism, but it will be for implementing on my next project, as I'm ready to put this one to bed.
That face... Did you use Fred Durst as a reference? Or maybe someone else but I'm sure I've seen that face before.
It looks great but the first pose looks a bit lifeless and weak (the left arm goes against the lines theory in Loomis' book making it feel out of place or undirected, like it's held like that without any reason), I guess part of it is the lighting and a lack of eyelashes (which blurs the difference between the eyes and the eyelids).
Looks real nice Poop. Only real crit would be the folds on the shorts aren't as impressive as the long sleeve shirt folds. But it's real nice man, Good job on nailing this one.
i can't believe you are actually showing this steaming pile of crap to people... if i do something embarassing i usually dont want people to know about it.. and here you are, reveling in your mistakes... you dissapoint me ben..
just thought i would give you some crits noone else would..
awesome stuff man.. already said everything over your shoulder while you were working on it..remember?? "thats all wrong!!" "facial hair dosent grow out of the skin like that dumbass!!" you know, the usual...
This is incredibly helpful, poop! Especially the part about using overlays in ps to create the smaller details. Really handy for those of us who don't have zbrush or just plain suck at hi-poly. (I qualify as both )
Looks great Ben. Maybe the head is a bit big and the ankles/legs a bit skinny? I dunno, guess it's a style choice. But very nice work all around. Will delve into that tut too. and congrats on the new gig man. Well deserved.
