image plan goin' nuts in max 7...

OK, so i have a background image i am using for reference right? it's in the front view. whenever i go to user, perspec....whatever, the model is no longer lined up correctly with the reference when i try to go back to front view. anyone experience this before?

    nevermind...hopefully it was just switching to dX 8.1. if not, i'd like some idears.

    I get this and have always had this. Basically, max is not very reliable when using BG images in the viewports.

    It's stable if you use the 4 window view and set them all to "non-scale, non-zoom" or something like that. It's in the viewport BG options. However if you switch views with the keyboards (like me) then sometime it borks when going from top view to perspective etc. Heck it does the same shit with viewing a wireframe model and switching to a view with shaded then back again.

    I blame it on dolphins.

    I've never had a background image problem in Max... sounds like it's more likely to do with your video card/choice of drivers.

    I just always set it to Lock Zoom/Pan, and Match Bitmap Size (or something like that) ... even having 3 different images in different viewports and swapping views like crazy causes no problems for me.

    I always map reference images on planes because I had that same problem. This works fine for me and the nice thing is that I can have different reference images on different planes for the head, torso, arms and legs. That way I can hide the reference of the parts that I am not working on.

    thanks guys.....blaming it on dolphins. hahaha. i'll do the same. so far switching the drivers is working out. i've known people to use geo like you said Ikraan. perhaps i'll do the same next time.
