Cross-Atlantic connection problems?

For some reason many US-based sites won't load for me, Gamespy, for example, times out. Slashdot isn't reachable either, the Polycount main site doesn't work properly. Is that just me/some retarded admin at this university or did some cross-atlantic connection fail?

What turned out to be the problem?

Dunno, just started working again. Maybe an important router went down for a few hours or something. Happens sometimes, remember when those root DNS servers got DDoSed?
