video clip downloads/reference sites?

anyone know of a site that provides downloads of video clips on a wide variety of non-specific, general subjects? People, nature, events, old film, that sort of thing?

I suppose what would be ideal is a free resource for digital video/film students.

i know Google's there, but trying to hit on just the right combination of keywords and wading through mountains of porn and codecs is a challenge and a half.

Getty is very nice. The movies are large, I like that they're QT format (for easy scrubbing, etc.), and they're easily downloadable.
