Hello! I'm new on this forum, I'm from italy (so excuse me for my bad english...
) and i want to learn how to create 3d models for UT2003 (i cannot install the 2004 version, my computer is too slow).
The first question is: where can i find a good tutorial? I installed 3dsmax 7 and maya, but i need a tutorial for an absolute beginner......
The second question is, probably, strange. I want to try to import some UT2004 characters in my UT2003 game (just to enlarge the roster of playable characters). I began trying to copy the utx, uol and ukx file of the UT2004 demo in my UT2003 game, but the program (and Unreal ED too) crashes when try to read the .ukx file. There is a way to import (or convert) the characters or i have to create them totally from the beginning? There is also a way to read the ukx files and extract the model if I want to modify them?
Please help me and...... thanks :-)

Besides that I have gotten some good tips and tricks from the BeyondUnreal boards (http://forums.beyondunreal.com).
UT2004 models have too high a version number so the engine will throw a fatal if it encounters one. I don't get why that's fatal but whatever. All my models are 2003-safe.

So....just as I thought.
I have to build them from zero, or, at least, create a custom .ukx file (the .upl and .utx files can be read by my UT2003 game).
Now i'll begin to learn how to build a 3d model..... thanks
A possible solution is to use UnrealED2004 (not the 2003, because it crashes like the game program), but this program is incorporated in the game.
In every case, this is good because i'll be forced to learn to use the programs.
P.S.
Whwn you search a thing, normally you'll find another! I discovered a very nice thing! A mod that introduce "onslaught" in your UT2003! You can use jetbikes, hovertanks and defense turrets...... Good!
