Soundcards?

well my soundblaster live gamer 5.1 is getting worse and worse. it freezes when i try to plug in my headphones or speakers back in and every couple months or so it stops working entirely until i remove it from the slot and plug in back in.

so what is a cheap decent card i could replace it with?

it's not that it's bad really but it's getting really annoying and if i could replace it for cheap i would.

Well I'm planning on ordering this tomorrow: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102162 once I find where my son put my damn wallet. Was recommended by a sound designer friend. Seems like a decent price for what you get, though I'll probably be waiting half a year for the mail-in rebate

Looking forward to finaly being able to use all 5 of my speakers.

odd, my live 5.1 still has no probs, it's been holding up great for the past 5 years

Gone through about 2-3 Live cards in a couple of years, things don't seem to want to last.

But for a budget, i'd recommend another Live card or a SB PCI 512 model. If you are REALLY poor, go with the SB PCI 128 model.
