If you show renders of your work show them in the pimp section. Also keep in mind somewhat proper english would help make a better impression on potential employers and there are a lot at these forums keep that in mind .

cheap:- sorry to say only you like to make love to certain big cocked gargoyles...I think anyway wink.gif

do as Pogonip says, get into the pimpin section and show us you stuff smile.gif.

and slayer,I like the use of the word "AOL speak"....I mean my language is not perfect by any means but I like to see myself as better spoken than the standard AOL user hehe smile.gif.

and sye:- welcome to PolyCount, hope you enjoy your stay in our lovely little community.

If you have questions about how to do things, post those questions in the 2D/3D forum. If you want to show your work, post it in the Pimping & Previews Forum. If you feel charitable, go th the Requests Forum, and find an idea there to model. That's basically it. Enjoy your stay.

I think half the folks here are "looking for a placement." If you're very, very good, you should have no problem finding a job as soon as you finish school.

Some guidelines for job hunting ...

Aim high, but be willing to consider studios that are not producing your favorite title, or even AAA titles.

Get your work to the point where it looks like work being done in shipping games.

    Know your tools.

Be a specialist. Be very very good at a couple things. Most "good companies" want artists who can do a few things excellently, rather than a lot of things at an average skill level.

Have personal projects in your portfolio ... things done outside of school. Art schools often guide students into creating portfolios that look very much alike at graduation. Art directors can smell a class project a mile off and get tired of seeing the same thing over and over again.

With "loved" meaning "loved by Bubba from behind".

    thanks thats been very useful..
we had a design show yesterday, but it was useless.. only one employer came down!! but i dont think i really want to work for them.. They are a company that make machines that make steel sheets.. They want animators to model these machines and animate them.. they want to employ me but i would like to work for a games company or something more creative because i would get bored otherwise..

Im thinking that instead of working for the metal sheet company i would rather not work and stay at home to build up my protfolio..

    Am i making sense??

No - take any job at this stage that will get you some experience.

I also notice you are looking for a placement. It might help if we knew where you lived. I'm not talking about your street address, but even a country would be a good start.

Germany (or there abouts) given his icon. So I believe we were a little too quick to say he was using AOL speak slayer and pogonip.

    Hello and welcome sye.

yes, i agree with rick. if they really want to hire you, go for it. right now you need experience more than anything else. if you truly get bored you can start to look for a better job using that one as a stepping stone.

To answer the original question, this is where the internet ends, and the interweb begins. Great and eerie things lie before your here.

I'd compare it to a maze of twisty passages, all alike: You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I'd just like to mention that, second language or not, "wot", "i c", "u" and other such stuff is very much aol-speak
And for the most part, i've found that people who have english as a second (or third) language do this a whole damned lot less than people who've been speaking english their entire lives.
And, as an elitist second-languager, i can say that it irritates me, and sort of move my eyebrows about a bit and glare.
    GLARE!

Maybe even scowl a bit, just to drive my point home.

I'm sorry Per, but my hate is linked to this internet-zone. It just wont function outside of here, i get all sunshine-lollipops-and-rainbows elsewhere.
Also, my farts smell like dandelions

Okay, maybe that's dandruff. But you'll excuse me this embarrasing mistake because i am german!
