Off to the races

i took my car out to the track this weekend at the Texas World Speedway, an old NASCAR and road course. had a ton of fun and learned a bunch.

more pics to come, but i wanted to at least get one up there tonight before i passed out, which i'm off to do now, cyas.

i need to find something like that around here. i'm pretty sure both laguna seca and sear's point (i refuse to call either by their new corporate names) offer such classes. sure would be fun to take my vette out on a course like that

Why the tape over the headlights?

Tape over the headlights help prevent damage from flying rocks.

I wish I got into autocrossing :P

I think the tape is to prevent shards of glass ending up on the track incase of damage, not so much to prevent damage.

its an R32, its the VW "supercar" its a lot faster than a gti. its 4 wheel drive and a 3.2 liter v6

oXYnary: Place where I worked last year, there were a couple of Lotus Elises in the parking lot, and they were both owned by game artists. Very nice cars, and cheaper than you'd think.

Beautiful car for sure, but I figured since no amount of money I'd ever possess would buy me a vehicle faster than my current motorcycle, if I got a four wheeled vehicle, it should be the other end of the spectrum, like a jeep or a truck.

Excellent! I'm soooo jealous!! I always wanted to do something like that in my MR2 or my Eclipse (or even the old 3000GT VR4), but never got around to it. Now I'm broke with a POS, and won't be able to afford another nice car for a long time. But I have to agree with poop... the Elise is DEAD SEXY. The Exige is nice, too (is it a targa top as well?), but the Elise is more... I don't know... clean looking. That Noble M12 is nice, too. YAY FOR SMALL FAST CARS!!!

By the way, r, Have you lost weight? You look way slim in these pics. (I just bought that EXACT SAME Bob Ross shirt, two weeks ago by the way).

scott: it was a combo of swimming, diet and kidney stones. they really took the weight off when i wasnt eating. when i'm sick, pain or stressed i tend not to eat anything.

toomas: its the high end vw supercar. it has a 250 hp v6 [similar to the vr6, but more powerful] in it, 4 wheel drive, 6 speed. its like a super GTI. they sold them in europe for a few years and brought 3k of them over to the states for 2004 which is when i turned in my vr6 GTI for the R32.

Exige hawtness on a race track! then the Exige being chased by an Apache heli (you'll need RealPlayer though...yuck!)

this is currently my favorite car thats whithin my price range, the one out of my price range is an old school crocket an tubs ferrari testarosa
