The Life Aquatic & Butterfly Effect.

These two movies have just come out here in Japan, so I went to have a looksie.

1. The Life Aquatic

Hands down the best movie I've seen in a very long time, really appealed to what I want in a movie. Not sure why the son(?) had to snuff it though, I mean that had almost no effect on the story.

2. Butterfly Effect

I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen this, I knew nothing about it. Quite a predictable story but really fucking enjoyable. A couple of the scenes were a bit lame... Actually it was like watching a really long episode of quantum leap.

Ugh, I had a 'friend' forced me in to watching Butterfly Effect. The only redeeming factor about that train wreck is all the horrible stuff that happens to that dreadful Ashten Koosher.

Life Aquatic is good stuff though.

I just saw The Life Aquatic too, and I've got mixed feelings about it. I think Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums were far better, but the Life Aquatic had its moments. The design of the boat and the dollhouse-like cross sections were very well done, but I thought Will Owen's Southern character wasn't convincing. I'll watch it again to pick up on stuff I missed before.

I had the worst expectations for the Butterfly Effect, just because of Ashton Kutcher but it turned out to be a great movie I think.

kutcher is a goofy comedian actor, bassicaly another stiffler, imagine this being the height of his comedic skills .. ashten places a piece of bread on his head and then says "I'M A BREAD MONSTER WOOOOOO WOOO" .. there thats it. he's been on "that 70's show" for some time and i don't think he's yet been actualy funny.

so saying that i went into butterfly effect pretty muching expecting to hate it because of ashten, but it turned out to be good movie, and he was a decent actor in it.

I loved the butterfly effect. I can't believe you thought it was predictable tho; I was constantly surprised at how messed up things were getting.

I liked the Butterfly effect too. Store was decent and I had a very very low expectation because of that Ashten K. actor.
Never heard of The Life Aquatic but I'm going to see if I can find that here.

the DVD was a director's cut with a new ending where ashton goes back to being a fetus and actually throttles himself with his umbilical cord in the womb...

If you liked the Butterfly Effect check out Donnie Darko. Darko is a more personal and character driven movie that deals with schizophrenia and mental time travel.

i found butterfly effect to be much better than donny dorko, which i found to be think and full of good old mock deepness

I loved Butterfly Effect despite going into it wondering how Ashton Kutcher would be able to pull off a serious role, but surprisingly, he was pretty decent.
