Finally a decent Besson/Jet Li film(i list them both due to their latest outings being so so). Li's performance was spot on and his english seems to be getting better. I couldn't help but get attached to his character as he reminded me of Leon. He has all of the innocent childlike qualities of Leon, but when that collar comes off look out. The fights are well choreographed and the wire work is minimal Wires are used mainly to show the force behind Li's attacks as he sends the enemies flying. There is one fight scene that tops them all though. Be on the lookout for the scene in the bathroom. It's excellent. Oh yeah, Bob Hoskins is very good too. The slimy little bastard.

Big fan of Hoskins and I've enjoyed all the Li movies I've seen. All the other stuff you mentioned I have no clue about :P

I'll be sure to check it out!

no Idea about Leon or my shoddy sentence structure? If it's Leon, I was referring to Leon: The Professional. It's a damn good film about a hitman who befriends a small girl. I won't go into anymore detail, but I highly recommend it.

If anyone here hasn't seen Leon, they suck, and should go and rectify this by going to watch it RIGHT NOW. I still have my Leon DVD smile.gif

Oh, yeah, and I'll see what I can do about seeing that new Li film ... haven't seen any new movies in a good long while, dammit!

holy crap.. good fight scenes.. found it draging in the parts they put in so your girlfriend would enjoy the movie.. but man, those fight scenes were intense.. none of this dacing around on wires crap, just ass kicking..the punches felt real and looked like they really hurt.. oh yeah the bathroom scene was one of the most creative things i have ever seen in martial arts flick.. i was entertained, which is something i find myself being at one out every 50 movies i see.. good stuff..

Unleashed is hands down the best movie I have seen this year . It has a little bit of everything . Kick ass kungfu , Love , Kindness ...it's a touching movie about a man who suffers ultimate hardship and find love and compasion ... it has all the elements of what made The shawshank redemption a great movie and of course Morgan Freeman is spectacular in this movie as well....Highly recommended !!!!

Alright, I get to be the snob. I thought the movie was utterly horrible. The pacing was bad, feeling often times like 2 different movies, the acting was hammy and non-sensical, and the fight scenes were clumsy.

But above all, the cage fight with weapons that seemed like an homage to a Mortal Kombat movie sequel took the cake.

I think Morgan Freedman took a bleach bath after production of this one.

Goodness, any real reason for the hostility, or is it just terribly shocking that someone can have an opinion that differs from yours?

I haven't seen it, but I thought it looked pretty stupid from the trailer... just the premise of the movie seems pretty stupid to me, but I guess I shouldn't judge before seeing it.

i thought the movie was good, thought all the acting was well.. except freeman seemed like he was doing it half hearted most of the time. the fights.. welll.. wo pingerific. i did not mind the slow parts at all, it was a big part of the storry, him learning how to live. 2nd best movie i've seen in theaters this year.. fith kung fu hustle being first

Hrmm, I thouhgt the pacing was fine. Sure, I wanted more fight scenes, but I felt that the middle part of the film was needed to show Jet's struggle with learning to be human again. I will agree with the pit fighting though. As soon as I saw the spiked hair, the fishnet costumes, and the skateboarding pads the contestants were wearing I let out a little grumble. Why is it that if you fight to the death you have to dress like an idiot in films? ugh!!! The acting on the other was good for the most part. I give Jet props for finally having a better grasp on his english. bob Hoskins was excellent IMO, and Freeman was a little over the top as a blind man, but still believable. I mean c'mon, it's certainly not oscar worthy, but it's a great little action film with heart. Now I can't wait until wednesday evening(thursday morning) after everyone returns from seeing episode III(that is if you are going to the midnight showing). I'm sure there will be some varied opinions of that one smile.gif

I thought it wasn't that bad, but I wouldn't recommend it. I liked the fight against the hare krishna. That stupid girl was annoying, but she had her purpose. The pit fight I found odd. Seeing all those fighters wearing 'cool' uniforms and crap, it felt weird to me but I couldn't put my finger on it. Near the end I realized that it was cartoony. You have this gritty movie, then these fighters all clean and styled wearing matching uniforms, like some sort of crappy, low-budget post-apoc film. If I hadn't seen this movie, I wouldn't feel like I've missed anything.
