Made it to Art School

Well I finally got my letter today and I made it into the North Carolina School of the Arts. The interview process was about 6 hours long and 1 girl left crying in the middle of it. So about 2 weeks later I was getting worried about my letter but it finally arrived!

Well anyways it will be quite fun hopefully and I will finally be able to focus more on art than anything.
So because I got in I thought it was time for a pimp since it has been so long. Here are 2 drawings I did for my portfolio and just a new WIP character.

Congratulations! I remember when I applied to design school. Two days of testing that totally sucked my brain dry - which luckily paid off.

I'm still waiting on the letter to see if I got into Visual Communications course... -.- at Alberta Collage of Art and Design....

Yes, people do cry when they get crit'ed there's usually one or two people that starts crying even in Introductory Design. (There is no easy to plainly say you suck is there?...) All I got was good concept, just lacking on focus and further development which I can understand :P

Well during the course of the 4 hour critique 2 other people were tearing up a little bit. But the one girl left during the actual 1 on 1 interviews.. so no idea what happened there.

Hmmm have things changed that much since the 10 years when I was applying for art school ? When I was trying to go the only question they typically asked me was " can you afford to go here " ...and then fallowed by " well since you can afford to go here we can work a way to get you in " ...Do art schools actually have standerds now ???

art college is great. i was there for most of my twenties and a had a great time( that I can remember anyway)

Yeah dude, congrats! I called up the Art Institute of Vancouver and I could hear the $ signs flap into their eyes. I told them I was interested and they harassed me for months about joining. Finally I told them no, and now I am saving up for an electric guitar building school which is roughly the same price.

Maximize the opportunity that you've been given. I never had the option to go to any kind of art school, I had to teach myself everything. So many people waste opportunities like this, so take advantage of it.
