Hey guys im new whats up, need some help :)

Hey guys im new to the forums.. I just bought maya 6 about 1 month ago and im wanting to learn how to do some good modeling.. could you guys find me or give me any good tutorials for maya 6.. i wanna work small and get the basics first but then get up big.. i wanna animate and model, so that might need some hardk work but i can do it ^_^.. thanks

the tutorials that came with maya should be read first. maya's interface is complex and you need to learn it before you can do anything else.

This may sound weird but.. im not really good with reading books.. im only good at reading stuff on the internet really.. i know it sounds weird.. but its what i fancy O_o.

The tutorials are integrated in the software. They should resemble 'internet reading' for you. As r13 said, in order for anyone to logically help you, you'll need a firm grasp of the basics.

MJ Poly Tools should be downloadable from that site somewhere, it's very handy.

you might try www.learning-maya.com as well. im not sure how well maintained the site is as there are tons of broken links, but the ones that work are generally pretty good. the online help is pretty nice too, especially if you're going to learn MEL (which if you're going to make maya your weapon of choice you should at least consider, definitely not a requirement tho). good luck.

That's the best way I've ever seen anyone say "my copy is pirated and doesn't come with a manual"...

Come on, it's not like someone buys a 2kUSD app out of a hunch he might enjoy using it.

Yeah, okay okay mine is pirated because its to expensive... ATM >.>... but.. i have been working on some maya stuff and i read the tutorials and i made this, check itout... and you said its the best way anyones ever put it.. woot XD.

Before anyone cries wolf. I can bet my life atleast 50% of the professionals here started with a pirated software.

Looks way better than anything I can do in maya.
