I was at best buy this weekend(buying a flight sim game) when i begn to think about who are the biggest villians in video games, just based on the games i saw on the shelves.
Nazis are the biggest villians in games, nazis are the guys you love to hate, the amount of games featuring Nazis is pretty incredible, whats interesting too is that Nazis can be villans across many genres FPS,RTS,Flight sims, sub sims to action titles.
What is it about Nazis that make it so fun to pop a cap in their ass in videos games? i for one think to myself "Nazis,i hate those guys" - Indiana Jones when i see them in games and cant wait to shoot em,whether its shooting down german planes in microsofts flight simulator or putting the smack down on Helga's leather clad fem nazi squad in wolfenstein. killing nazis is fun.
My guess to nazis popularity in video games as villians is that they were such a vivid symbol of evil yet they were also real,a threat this world actually had to confront, add all the crazy things they were actually into like super secret weapons, the occult and the romantic time period of WWII thats why there are so many video games out there in the era and why it never becomes un fun killing nazis
close second to worst villians id have to say space aliens
games ive played/owned where ive gotten to kill Nazis
Medal of honor 1-3 Playstation 1
Microsoft combat flight sim 1 and 3
Wolfenstein old school and new school
Medal of honor allied assault
Call of duty
Il2 strumovik
Axis and allies

i would have to agree that nazis are probably the greatest and best. culturally we're just obsessed with them anyhow, so it's a natural choice for a great variety of games.
it still pains me that they stopped updating, but here was a classic rant on RTCW, and it not having Hitler as the final boss.

i think the world war 2 genre which hasnt been adressed and id love to see into game would be a "What if" world war 2
my idea for a world war 2 game would be an alternate reailty of world war 2, where history was altered would be in Hitlers invaision of Russia,in this version of history id have the Germans invade russia from the west and they secretly made a pact with the Japanese to invade from the east.
highlights of the game would be
the Invaision and fall of Russia/including Stalins death
the German invaision of Canada via russia
in this game pearl harbor never happened
and the big climatic battle would be the Battle of Seattle, which the americans finally stop the german war machine and begin their battle to eventual victory fighting from U.S soil all the way to Berlin
in this history having liberated Russia by the US and stalin being dead there would be no cold war in the aftermath.
Big crazy mutant monsters, aliens or zombies were always my favourite enemy. Things that run, jump and bite with unnatural speed and strength. Nazis can't match that!
The Zergs arn't evil, they are actually a poor enslaved race that finaly freed themselves
Orc are btw another very often used villian, but I really hate that kind of scenario.
you see a nazi, you shoot his ass and look for the next. no background information needed.
same for zombies.
actually in my story the british invade france and liberate it opening the 2nd front to take pressure off the americans
1. Nazis
2. Zombies
3. Aliens (of various types)
4. Humans (various nations, clans, groups, individuals...ect)
5. Robots
6. Pirates
7. Ninjas
Now if someone would only make a game that pitted Nazi space alien pirates against Allied space human ninja-robots, then I believe we'd have a AAA+ title
and i. really. hate. the. flood.
the covenant grunts are funneh. *they're everywhere!!*
the stroggs were horribly evil as well
Then call me wrong too. It was the first thing I though of too Gauss.
"...the German invaision of Canada via russia..."
Worst invaision plan ever.
I guess it would work if they were zombie nazis.
Mass your forces in Siberia, make an amphibious (very short) landing from russian land onto alaska via the bering strait, from alaska to canadian territory you will encounter little to no resistance then march eastward to ottawa, in that time set up sub pens to operate from russian land and airfields to supply the troops.
once russia is captured they would have a steady stream on oil coming in from the Caucasus oil fields along with the material wealth for manufacturing from the eastern portio of russia
Nazi's are pretty common, aliens are on the way out because of them, but the best villian would be the one eye'd emperor form duke nukem 3d. That whole game was awesome.
The japanese sure had no problems invading the alluetians in alaska during World War 2
And OK, maybe northern Canada is a little hard to traverse. But here's two words for you, fucker: POWER ARMOR. Think about it.

My mind, it is officially blown!
And those aren't just flat islands, those are mountains
Those island wouldnt be in the path of the german advance
German advance would begin from Alaska with supplies coming in from russia via the bering strait with support from lufftwaffe airfields in russia and Uboats patrolling the waters to the edge of canadian/US border as well as supplying troops. as well as uboar wulf packs patrolling pacific along with cooperation of the Japanese navy.
the advance would be along the canadian pacific coast, along the way the German army would be attacked by canadian forces along their southern advance.
In my storyline Hitlers mistake would be his desire to take the his first American city,Seattle due in large part to its port.
But the German forces are defeated by the americans in Seattle and the Americans being their long and painful advance all the way to Berlin while the british open a western front, liberate France and eventually American and British forces would take Berlin
anyone ever play the sniper city stage in MOH allied assault?
i think thats one of the best designed levels ive seen as far as war games go,the mission was you needed to go through a destroyed french town and escort a sherman tank crew to a site in which youd eventually take a panzer tank and you need the crew to drive it.
the whole town had 79 snipers, all you had was a simple springfield sniper rifle.
freaking awesome stage
the thing is, in all reality, Niether America or Britian had the forces to retake that territory, WW2 was won by the russians, hands down.

That seems to me a silly thing to say. If America never entered the war and Britain had fallen in 1942, would Russia still have won? German, controlling the entirety of western Europe, fighting a summer campaign on a single front? I really doubt Russia single-handed resists that kind of invasion. WW2's victors are known as the 'Allies' for a reason.
Anyway, yes, Nazis are the best enemy ever.
2)no rockets
3)no nazi contract construction workers to go build it
4)the allies had the plans and would have flown up a rocket plane and dropped a bomb down the thermal exhaust port and blown the thing so we could all go home...
sorry, been reading too much about SWE3ROTS...
All 52 cards were played to end the war, and if you removed a single one the whole war would have been completely different, but the Soviet Union were the most vital nation in the allies. Ofcourse, even refering to the Soviet/Nazi war in the context of WW2 is wrong, the great patriotic war (1941-1945) and the second world war were worlds apart.
The way I heard it the russian winter is what stopped the germans in their tracks. I wonder if it wouldn't have been Berlin Hiroshima and Nagasaki if the war had gone on longer or without the russians. It'd be interesting to see how nuking a european city durring the war would have changed history as it seems to have mattered less to the world happening only to the japanese.
Anyway my favorite villian is Gannon, though King Koopa is pretty important to me as well.
The first suit of Power Armor is deployed in Alaska. While lacking the full mobility of future versions, this Power Armor is incredibly effective against Chinese tanks and infantry. Its ability to carry heavy ordinance becomes key in various localized conflicts, and it has the power to destroy entire towns without endangering the wearer. China rushes to create its own versions, but they are many years behind the United States.
2072:
The United States' increasing demand for Canadian resources causes protests and riots in several Canadian cities. An attempted sabotage attempt of the Alaskan pipeline is all the military needs as an excuse to begin its annexation of Canada... which in fact, had already begun in 2067
2076:
The United States annexation of Canada is complete. Canadian protestors and rioters are shot on sight, and the Alaskan Pipeline swarms with American military units. Pictures of atrocities make their way to the United States, causing further unrest and protests.
Its all in the bible kids.
the allies wouldn't nuke germany because they were worried if the nuke failled to go off the nazis could reverse engineer it and start lobbing them back. but they never figured the japs as being smart enough to do that. that's japan, the nation that invented the pocket calculator, the wlakman, the playstation and microchips...good call guys!
