Im in the process of texturing a mid 90's thugged out character. He will be wearing a leather Avirex type coat, and baggy low-riding jeans, crooked hat and doo-rag/bandana. Started the face. Check it out. He's 1088 tri's.
Wow, black skin is so hard to match but you've done an insanely great job so far. SO much more complex that white skin! Lookin great so far, i bet this will turn out wonderful. Mind sharing your color swatches?
cracking work so far I think that the muscles to the side of the mouth need to be a bit wider on the model for it to look right from the 3/4 angle view, but I'm loving the texture You may wanna introduce some orange and reds in the skintone though, just to give him a bit more life
I'll also be looking out for this one, I'm quite curious to see what you do with the clothes textures
Thanks for the crits guys they all help. Heres a small update. havent had too much free time to work on him.
n30g3n3s1s - As far as my swatches go I am just finding different references of black men & women from 3dsk.com and eye dropping the tones straight from the photos.
notman - Im tweaking the model a bit as I texture to get the correct facial anatomy. Your right he didnt look quite right at first.
Damn he looks familiar to me. Do you happen to know someone by the name of Fred King? The only thing that is off is where is his Bling bling, his gold chains and watch?
I hope you give as much love to his hands you did the face. The face is looking great, except the top of the nostrils. They look a little pitched or not as full to me compared to his mouth and where you have his eyes set.

The texture looks great. The crotch on the model though, seems a little wide IMO.
Anyway, looks good, it has some really good detail for the amout of polys in it, really nice ^_^.
I'll keep an eye on this one
