Felt inspired to model a game character today. I was somewhat inspired by the Samurai challenge, but my timing was bad, so I decided to go ahead and pimp this.I was going for video game mini-boss or tough bad guy. A few pieces, such as the banner are placeholder, and I'm considering more detail in the eyes & exposed face. The plan is to UV and texture this big fella! Took ~4 hours, before accessories. Just over 2000 polygons all together.

Haven't spent much time on it, biggest changes are the boot armor, new weapons and banner mesh. This model is mostly done, the next is UVs. Some parts of the mesh will be cleaned up in that process, mainly with the weapons and accessories.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more detail/design in the boots... also his elbow area seems rather oddly thin, the way the (baggy cloth?) of the upper arm gets pinched in doesn't read quite right.
Nice use of polys though. Texture should make it look great!

I'd like to texture that. I can see it now.... black armor, gold trims with a bit of dark red here and there.
I'd suggest against the face. I think it looks menacing as it is with just the black patch for where his face ought to be.
Thanks everyone, it really means a lot to me as I haven't really made a character in at two years. Once I get it UV'ed, I'll post an SDK, or sorts, for anyone wanting to play with textures.
Yes, the boots. That's actually where this model started, and they were more like big socks. I could definately see about more detail there, and reducing the pinching around the elbow. The pose was important, to show how a character can be setup for rigging while retaining character. Glad you like it Vig.
Anyone have any suggestions for a heavy weapon? I'd want a samurai might use, and being a heavy broad sword or big hammer.

Kinda like software development kit i guess. Shouldn't it be TDK (Texture development kit)... sounds like a bit from seinfeld...
Anyway, if i get some free time i'm so texturing this. Looks very cool.
