Wondering is any1 has any info, tut's, links, etc. they could post on doing this. ?
For some reason my max help isn't loading, and max has been crashing on me alot when trying to play with it. Reinstalling hasn't helped either which is odd.
my new comp is REALLY touchy atm...
Not happy with it at all! :E
Anyway,
I have no idea how to do it this far.
I know you can use vert colouring to get changes in texture colours and shadows, etc.
but what about assigning textures ?
I'm interested in making a level (or part of) for something like GTA VC/SA.
I am Looking at faster ways of getting things in there.
I'm thinking that this would be the fastest way to get a large area done if it is possible to assign textures to vert's and have them 'automaticaly' applied to large areas and to blend between a few textures if wanted.
eg. I would have a large grass field with a big mud area..
I could just cut 2 circles where I want the mud and then assign the verts of the smaller circle to the mud texture and the outter circle verts to grass... so inside the small circle would be all mud, between the large and smaller circle it would be mud fading to grass etc ?
Would be something like editors you find for games like Morrowind and FarCry.
I know it also depend on the game engine aswell.
Maybe once I do the above I can use some other tricks to get it to work ingame if it is a problem.?
Maybe render to texture for certain area's or something...
Thanks,
Cain.
P.S. I think I'm making sense. :P
