Now that I'm using this app as my primary mesh creation tool, I have a couple of questions.
1.) When I export to MD2 format, often the model becomes "scrambled". So I have been exporting to DXF. which means I cannot animate or unwrap since that info is lost(though I could export each individual frame, for animanting). I'd much prefer to use one app for everything. Any ideas why it may be doing this?
2.) The program gives me a message upon startup, "cannot find Python, happily continuing". I do have Python installed. Do I need to tell it where to find it or something?

Try scaling your model down before exporting - make sure it's not bigger than 256 units in any direction. That's all I can think of, anyway...
Also before exporting to md2, you have to convert all your quads into triangles first.
Not quads vs tris.
Cheap, does the wavefront obj save skinmap info? If so, that's a solution to one of the problems.
My thoughts on this: Blender's md2 importing/exporting is either broken, or there is some type of data that needs to be created(perhaps within blender) prior to exporting.
Clearly something is amiss or missing on exporting the original model to MD2.
It's a hassel, but workable.
