I am looking to use an engine for a quick demo for a customer of my consulting firm. Has anyone had any experience with the Lithtech Jupiter engine. It seems to be far more reasonably priced than the unreal engine.
Just to name a few that are much less expensive then jupiter. Jupiter has some pretty dated tools, and is cumbersome at best. I would'nt say that you can develop anything quickly with it. The actor setup is quite a pain.
What games have shipped on it? If none have shipped yet, then I dont think anyone here can comment because of NDA's. Was NOLF2 on it? Even if it wasn't, it has mod tools with it that at least may show you what Touchdowns workflow is like?
NOLF2 and Tron 2.0 was on Jupiter afaik. NOLF2 kicked ass with smart fights, extreme interactivity and fun humor, and Tron just felt like a bloom techdemo.
As for the "quick demo" we are making a product to promote our company. We have a great deal of experience programming here but very little 3d experience (just two hobyists). However for the demo (though we should call in a promo) we want to integrate some back end technologies into a fun platform; the problem is that we dont want to spend a lot of money.
Epic was totally unreasonable. Like I am going to be able to get my bosses to agree to blow a million dollars on something that we will get no revenue from whatsoever. O_o
So now Im looking for other alternatives. We are also looking for artists willing to do some work for us in exchange for exposure via prominent mention in the demo.
