i started my vacation this weeking and i am in LA about to head out to sydnee on monday... any polycounters ever been? or live in the area? looking for some cool stuff to do.. my girlfriend is a chemist and is going to be doing research all day so i need something to do.. we will be staying in wollongong in a beach house... any ideas?

There is a fantatic art gallery for one. At least go up one of the pylons of the harbour bridge. Great little cafe called 'Cossies' on Crown St in the Surrey Hills area. Check out the view from the Sydney tower at dusk.

I wouldn't do that, those kangaroos are deadly poisonous and have been known to cocoon their victims and feed them to their young. Especially tourists, they love the taste of foreign flesh. If you value your life, stay away from the roos. Don't even look at one the wrong way. Don't even look at a picture of one. In fact, don't even entertain the thought about possibly thinking about anything vaguely relating to a kangaroo. They will know, and will hunt you down.

Yeah man, 'roos and wallabies are dreadful things - all venom-soaked fangs and dripping claws.

Autumn isn't the season I'd go to Sydney, but I guess you won't expire from the heat or the smoke from bushfires at least

Sydney rocks if you like to shop. There're all sorts of good summer things to do, but to be honest I have no idea what's good at this time of year.

well, i don't live there, but wollongong was where i was born. It is a large coalmining/industrial town on the coast an hour south of sydney, has a budist temple, a university, a nice beach and a blowhole, but all rather surburban....
